Buyer/Planner (Calphalon Retail) Job

Calphalon, a division of Newell Rubbermaid, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of kitchen housewares.
General Function:
Responsible for developing and executing business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the sales and profitability. Plan and purchase inventory to maximize in-stock levels, and inventory turn while minimizing overstocks.
Planning
·Project overall sales for each season/quarter by:
·Store
·Product Category/Product Line
·By SKU
·Analyze SKU sales performance to determine inventory liability
·Set up measurement tools to measure productivity (by store, sq. ft, etc)
·Create in depth analysis on current trends and project the sales impact of such
·Update POS system with:
·Lead Times
·Max/Min Replenishment levels
·Ensure timely and accurate SKU/inventory data input
·Placement of initial orders and reorders
·Monitor flow of merchandise for distribution centers/vendors to stores
·Recommend disposition strategy for non-productive inventory.
·Provide specific input on sales and inventory levels for Open to Buy, Overstocks, etc.
·Recommend product changes to increase sales such as changes in door count, assortments or new product ideas.
·Set up analytical tools to measure promotional activity and make future recommendations.
Buying
·Partner with manager to develop business strategies/seasonal assortment plans.
·Perform market analysis, competitive shop and analyze sales trends to keep abreast of current trends.
·Identify internal and external product/buying opportunities to develop seasonal business strategies
·Develop and Recommend seasonal and core product mix
·Develop seasonal and annual promotional strategies/calendars
·Establish and maintain strong lines of communication with vendors, customer service, demand planning, and stores.
·Escalate packaging, quality and internal/external performance issues to appropriate owner and develop action plan to address
·Partner with Retail Coordinator on all store communication (training, directives, etc)
Visual Merchandising Collaboration
·Partner with Visual Merchandising on plan-o-gram maintenance. When assortment changes occur develop plan-o-gram strategies and ensure plan-o-gram updates.
·Partner with Visual Merchandising to develop suggested merchandising strategies to execute in stores.
·Requires approximately 20% travel
·A Bachelor's Degree preferably in business, finance, or marketing
·
3 years of retail buying experience
·
MS Office experience, with knowledge of spreadsheet and database programs
·
Self motivated
·
Analytical skills
·
Ability to multi-task
·
Strategic agility
·
Negotiating skills
