Director, Channel Marketing & Business Development - Decor Job

This position is responsible for leading the channel marketing efforts of the Decor business. Working in conjunction with the Vice President, the Director of Channel Marketing is charged with the collaborative creation, development, execution, and measurement of the company's channel marketing strategy. This strategy involves both cultivation of existing channels of distribution ("farming") and, importantly, the qualification, development, and ownership of new channels and routes to market ("hunting"). The Director will have direct reporting relationships with the Channel Managers.
Additionally, the Director has responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, trade promotional planning, channel pricing strategy, merchandising display coordination and execution, category management, recruiting, staffing and training. The Director uses his or her keen market insight to provide analysis of key business trends, pricing factors, and competitive activity. Working in close collaboration with the Decor sales and brand management teams, the Director coordinates business development initiatives to drive profitable growth in line with the company's strategic plan.
Job Responsibilities:
·Relationship sales role - developing a superior working relationship with key individuals and groups within Decor and the Strategic and Key Accounts. Gaining the respect and support needed from all parties to ensure that things get done - even when a direct reporting relationship is not present.
·Annual account/channel planning - partnering with key sales and brand management to provide comprehensive annual account plans to achieve sustainable share growth, defend and grow current share base and drive conversion (either via new category and/or incremental promotional planning)
·Publish and plan for annual line review calendar targets
·Publish and plan for annual promotional activities
·Initiate and lead monthly Channel Operations Review to 1) ensure metric tie in to divisional growth initiatives and 2) drive local ownership review and course correction activities on monthly cadence
·Channel/account cat mgt mix review
·S&OP
·Customer scorecard review
·Line review calendar review
·Commercialization channel review
·Promo planning review
·Development and execution of strategic and tactical plans for each channel of distribution that are derived from the category strategies
·Critical process management role - with the input and approval of all required internal and external parties, and within budget; this position has the ultimate responsibility for managing the design, communication, implementation, monitoring, and (if necessary) re-designing of the critical processes required to ensure that the "delight factor" is consistently achieved for Strategic and Key Accounts as well as the overall business itself. Critical process areas include, but are not limited to:
·PE & OAR initiation, analysis, & resolution
·Trade promotions / advertising
·Channel pricing strategy
·Line Review development and presentation
·Commercialization plans for new product rollouts
·Mix management & planogram development
·Merchandising & cross-merchandising initiatives
·Programming & sell-thru initiatives including promotional activity
·Budgeting & Forecasting
·Policy & procedure guidelines
·Category management - having primary responsibility for ensuring that "Category Management" is conducted with both Strategic and Key Accounts in such a manner that it is seen as a sustainable competitive advantage for Decor. Serve in the key external "Category Manager" role, working with both the Strategic Account and Decor's internal "Category Management" group. This role includes, but is not limited to:
·Establishing the formal Cat. Mgmt. framework, process, and communication flow between Decor and the Strategic / Key Account(s)
·Ensuring all necessary information is secured and delivered within pre-determined due dates
·Supporting the "consultant role" which Decor will play in managing the department for the Strategic / Key Account(s)
·Delivering monthly updates, in person and in writing, to the Strategic / Key Account(s)
·Communication role - the position requires superior communication itself as well as the coordination of communication between functions and within functions at Décor.
·New Business Development Role - the position is charged with the responsibility for securing new business; either through the effective management of conversion selling, promotional selling, cross merchandising, new product introduction, or line reviews on existing products. Critically important is the exploration and development of new route to market / business model opportunities that can expand the reach of the Décor business.
·Individual Development role - the Director works with his/her team to improve competencies and technical aspects of each position, and prepares the associate for future positions and additional responsibility.

College Degree required; MBA preferred

7-10 years of Sales, Management, and/or Channel experience

Excellent written & verbal communication skills
