Director, Consumer Insights - Decor Job

The Director of Consumer Insights for Décor will lead and conduct consumer inquiries for Newell Rubbermaid's Décor global business unit which consists of Levolor, Amerock and Kirsch. This strategic role partners closely with the brand executive team to identify actionable insights that unlock growth opportunities and establish choices and priorities for the business unit. The Director of Consumer Insights will report to the Vice President of Marketing and will collaborate with cross-functional members of the Décor business unit as well as with the global Newell Rubbermaid consumer insights community of practice.

Essential Duties:

·Drive meaningful consumer focus throughout the business.

·Identify actionable consumer insights and translate them into clear strategic recommendations for the business.

·Become a consumer and marketplace expert, providing in-depth understanding of the Décor business, relevant macrotrends, and appropriate target consumer segments.

·Uncover unmet and emerging consumer needs and related product and service opportunities. Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to address consumer needs in product development pipelines and innovation priorities.

·Understand the full consumer experience in the category, including category entry and drivers, purchase decision priorities, adoption barriers, shopping process, out of the box experience, and contributors to brand loyalty and product endorsement.

·Champion new ideas and initiatives that generate an elevated level of proprietary consumer understanding to create an environment that supports profitable innovation.

·Set and manage global brand health measurement metrics. Effectively diagnose brand health measures and provide strategic guidance on tactics for continuous improvement.

·Work effectively with outside research suppliers to frame, conduct, interpret, and act on pertinent consumer studies.

·Collaborate with the global Newell Rubbermaid consumer insights community to establish and share functional best practices throughout the corporation.

·Travel globally and within the U.S. to conduct consumer inquiries and communicate relevant results to internal and external business partners.

·Establish and maintain the brand's strategic consumer learning plan as a part of the overall business strategy. Manage the annual learning plan and budget in alignment with the business objectives of the Décor business unit.

·Passion for research, endless curiosity about human behavior, and tireless advocacy for the consumer

·Previous experience as a consumer research leader in a global consumer-facing organization, preferably around packaged goods in a retail environment

·Expert level understanding of experimental design, research methods, innovation, and consumer behavior is required.

·Strong quantitative/analytical abilities, hands-on experience, and a comprehensive understanding of quantitative consumer research methods.

·Strong qualitative research abilities, hands-on experience conducting multiple qualitative research methods, demonstrated ability to interpret and apply research results.

·Strategic thinker who uses consumer understanding to drive business results.

·A persuasive, effective speaker who can influence others and who communicates effectively at all levels in an organization as well as across cultures and geographies.

·Creative and innovative in using new methods and processes to generate new product ideas and identify market opportunities.

·Extensive experience working with research suppliers, ideation firms and marketing agencies.

·Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, including New Product Development, Marketing, Experimental Psychology, or Anthropology is desired.

·10 years in consumer research or closely related field.
