Group Customs Compliance Lead Job

This is a job summary which includes essential job duties of the position. More specific information regarding duties may be provided upon request for particular locations and facilities.

The primary function of this position will be to ensure compliance by all Newell GBU's with CBP and all other government agencies' regulations. Work closely with the Sourcing and Supply Chain teams, Corporate Compliance Manager, and Group legal counsels to ensure efficient and effective movement of shipments and that compliance with company policies and procedures are followed. Additionally, will assist with training, audits and special CBP programs across all GBU's company wide.

This position will report directly to VP of Supply Chain with a dotted line to the Corporate Compliance Manager.

Responsibilities:

Core/Daily

·Monitor broker invoices to ensure Newell Rubbermaid compliance.

·Develop, maintain and update parts classification and Schedule B databases. Where needed obtain binding rulings.

·Ensure any ASSISTS are reported, and duty paid, to CBP in a timely manner.

·Handle all country of origin issues. This would include collection of NAFTA's, validation of NAFTA eligibility and issuance of NAFTA's.

·Assist with drawback claims.

·Assist sourcing/supply chain with problems that arise with import or export shipments.

·Liaison with CBP and any OGA/PGA.

·Review OnBase to ensure documents are available and legible.

·Review monthly statements in the ACE Portal and from brokers to ensure proper duty is paid through Periodic Monthly Payment program.

Support Corporate Compliance Initiatives

·When designated assist GBU's that are not part of your group.

·Identify training issues/needs and assist Corp. Compliance Manager with training.

·Assist Corp. Compliance Manager with audits of different Newell GBU's.

·Distribute relevant information concerning import changes to key members to the Distribution/Transportation, Supply Chain and Sourcing teams.

·Assist Corporate Compliance Manager with C-TPAT.

·Assist in the implementation of the Importer Self-Assessment Program.

Analyze GBU import practices to improve productivity

·Sit in on initial PDR's to see if there are any Customs questions.

·Review Newell GBU's for opportunities to reduce duty and improve processes.

·BS or BA required

·5 - 10 years of experience working for a Customs Broker preferred, with strong knowledge in classification, valuation, and country of origin

·Licensed Customs Broker

·Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously

·Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Motivational in tone and spirit.
