The Materials Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting the materials team in the qualification and development of materials, additives, and colors for new and established products in all product categories. The intern will interface with manufacturing to ensure materials adherence to established specifications.
·Support new product development from consumer research through production start as well as existing product improvements
·Assist in ensuring new products meet specifications (drawings, performance and quality), cost and timing objectives
·Assist development of product designs from design staff concepts using computer-aided design (Pro Engineer)
·Assist evaluation and optimization of product designs for mechanical function (e.g., fit, function, interference, tolerance stack ups, nesting, etc), manufacturability, packaging and material handling

· Pursuing B.S./M.S. degree in Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
· Effective interpersonal skills, especially communication and success working in a team environment.
· Ability to take initiative and/or leadership on projects.
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
· Effective planning/organization skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities.
· Strong problem solving skills, including identifying problems and potential problems, and developing solutions for smooth workflow.
· Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including over-time.
Climate:
This position requires tact, cooperation, and initiative in conjunction with strong materials understanding. Must be flexible and have ability to handle changing priorities, multiple tasks, and projects. Must be a proactive individual who can drive projects to timely completion.
