Senior Manager, Global Innovation Job

The Senior Manager, Global Innovation will lead and conduct innovation strategy sessions, innovation training, and ideation workshops for Newell Rubbermaid business units. Working in a small team, the Senior Manager, Global Innovation will report to the VP, Insights & Innovation and will work in partnership with brands from throughout Newell Rubbermaid to develop their innovation pipelines and improve the success of new product market introductions. This position offers an exciting mix of strategy, practice, and consulting.

Specific Duties:

· Provide consultation and technical guidance to Newell Rubbermaid business units on best practices and state of the art for innovation, including concept testing, idea generation and management, portfolio management, and collaboration networks.

· Conduct creativity workshops, ideation sessions, and innovation strategy sessions that uncover identify actionable business opportunities to create market space and enter new product categories.

· Develop and deliver innovation training to cross-business unit teams

· Help drive consistency and commonality in implementation of idea-to-launch and innovation processes across the organization.

· Work in collaboration with cross-functional and cross-business unit teams to implement and continuously improve the consumer-driven innovation (CDI) process for Newell Rubbermaid global business units.

· Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to incorporate consumers' needs into new product development.

· Help maintain and extend global communities of practice for innovation.

· Work with outside designers, universities, individual inventors, and design houses to create innovation partnerships with Newell Rubbermaid.

· Travel to business units globally to provide training and consultation on innovation, ideation, and idea-to-launch methods and processes.

· Substantial experience in new product development, innovation, and design is required.

· Bachelor's Degree in a research-focused or technical field, including New Product Development, Industrial Design, Psychology, Anthropology, or Human Centered Design is desired

· Strategic agility and demonstrated ability to use strategic frameworks to understand business challenges and opportunities.

· Experience working with research suppliers and external design agencies.

· In-depth experience with idea-to-launch and new product development methods and processes.

· Skill in implementing new processes and methods in large organizations.

· Persuasive, effective speaking and presentation skills. Ability to influence others and to communicate effectively at all levels in an organization as well as across cultures and geographies.

· Open to new ideas and development methodologies. Willing to learn. Takes initiative to explore new ideas.

· Creative and innovative in using new methods and processes to generate new product ideas and identify market opportunities.

· Ability to integrate and synthesize technical information, design data, and consumer needs and to reflect consumer understanding in design.

· Able to effectively work with multi-disciplinary teams and generate demand for follow-on engagements.

Preferred Qualifications :

·
Consumer Products Industry experience or Product Design Consultancy experience

·
Experience working with products throughout the new product development lifecycle from idea-to-launch

· Previous experience as a strategic consultant, innovation process leader, product development manager, or advanced concepts team member
