Senior Manager, Industrial Design Job

This is a job summary which includes essential job duties of the position. More specific information regarding duties may be provided upon request for particular locations and facilities.
This function will lead the Industrial Design effort for the Specialty Printing & Labeling and Analog to Digital platforms:
·Shape the internal Industrial Design function; advocate a user-centered design approach
·Lead a global team of Industrial Design professionals (both traditional Industrial Design and User Experience Design) dispersed over different sites co-located with their hardware and software development teams; select and manage external design resources to complement internal resources in specific areas.
·Translate end-user insights and technological capabilities into winning products that meet or exceed end-user expectations and are perceived as "practically genius" in the marketplace; support the different stages of the Consumer Driven Innovation process with relevant design deliverables
·Develop, evolve and implement a common design language across the different product lines to ensure a coherent articulation of the brand and a consistent physical and digital end-user experience. Be the owner of the Common Design Language and enforce it throughout our product line.
·Provide input to the overall product planning process from a design perspective; use overall design and trend spotting as an additional source of new ideas
The individual will work with a broad range of functions including End-User Insights, Product Management and R&D and will report into the VP of R&D and Operations.
·Master's degree in Industrial Design or HCI with a minimum of 10 years of experience in product design; prior managerial experience required.
·Ability to lead and inspire a globally distributed team of industrial and user experience designers
·Ability to plan and manage towards project schedules and to develop processes to support continuous improvement of his team's performance
·Creative, self-motivated individual with outstanding design skills and a proven portfolio of winning consumer electronics products
·Strong conceptualization and design communication skills
·Team player able to communicate with both technical and business functions
·Experience with:
- Relevant design and prototyping tools and methodologies to represent both the physical and digital aspects of a product
- Design language systems and their implementation
- Manufacturing processes (injection molding, electronics assembly,…)
