Under the direction of the Production Manager, serves as the department champion for all cost, safety, quality, service and continuous process improvement results utilizing lean manufacturing principles. It is a highly visible position that will work with all levels of employees across the company. The key objective is to lead a segment of the business and drive change that will positively affect the bottom line of the company. Some position details are: Schedules and coordinates flow of work within or between functions of manufacturing to expedite production. Reviews master production schedule and work orders, establishes priorities for specific customer orders, and revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.

Confers with shift leaders to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from methods or engineering departments, compiles reports concerning progress of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to appraise production planning personnel of production delays; and maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production. Additional details:

·Manages and develops 2-3 shift leaders and 30-60 manufacturing employees, indirectly manages the Planner, Engineer, and HR Generalist associated with the department

·Helps develop the strategy to achieve department goals

·Plans and coordinates continuous improvement activities

·Leads/participates in kaizen teams to improve overall department performance

·Performs/participates in process evaluations to baseline current performance

·Performs/participates in financial justifications for continuous improvement projects and capital expenditures

·Uses statistical analysis tools to identify trends and project opportunities

·Drives change and constantly strives to improve safety, cost, quality, service, and productivity performance

·Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Business discipline

·Master's degree preferred

·Thorough knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles

·4-6 years of related work experience and experience managing and developing others in a plant/operation environment

·Six Sigma Black Belt certified preferred

·Proven track record of successfully leading process improvement projects within a distribution or manufacturing environment

·Working knowledge of process improvement tools and methodologies, strong quantitative, analytical and process redesign skills, along with excellent project management skills are required

·Excellent communication skills

·MS Office software skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access

·Knowledge of quality system requirements
